Astellas Pharma Canada (APCA) is currently searching for a Lead, R&D Software Engineer Planisware.

Description

A Software Engineer in an Agile Framework is a dynamic role that involves designing, developing, configuring, testing, and maintaining the Planisware solutions within the context of an Agile development process. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, teamwork, and adaptability to rapidly changing requirements as well as an understanding of how the solution supports the R&D business processes. The Lead R&D Software Engineer Planisware works closely with cross-functional teams, including product owners, designers, and other engineers, configuration specialists, business analysts, to deliver high-quality software that meets user needs and business goals of R&D. The Lead R&D Software Engineer will lead a cross-functional agile team and be accountable for the deliverables as per commitments in the agile framework used by Astellas for the existing Planisware implementation.

Essential Job Duties

  1. Agile Leadership: Actively lead the team on Agile practices such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the team's Agile processes.
  2. Software Development: Design, code/configure, test, and debug software applications according to user stories and acceptance criteria defined in sprint planning, and lead others on the agile team to do the same. Ensure code/configuration quality and maintainability by adhering to best practices and coding standards.
  3. Collaboration: Work closely with product owners to understand the product backlog and help prioritize work. Collaborate with team members to solve technical challenges and ensure a cohesive solution.
  4. Testing and Quality Assurance: Write and execute unit tests, participate in peer code/config reviews, and contribute to ensuring high-quality software releases.
  5. Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Contribute to the CI/CD pipeline for automated building, testing, and deployment of applications. Embrace a "build it, run it, own it" mentality for all software developed.
  6. Technical Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation for software design, development processes, and user guides to ensure knowledge sharing and best practices within the team.
  7. Adaptability: Quickly adapt to changing requirements and new technologies. Be open to receiving and providing feedback to continuously improve team performance and software quality.
  8. Problem-Solving: Employ strong problem-solving skills to address technical challenges and implement solutions that are efficient, scalable, and aligned with team goals.

Required Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, information technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  2. Minimum 7 years of information technology industry experience, with 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and delivering (coding/config) solutions in Planisware.
  3. Experience working in, or delivering as part of a vendor team, software solutions for the pharmaceutical industry, including a solid understanding of the pharmaceutical development process.
  4. Experience working in a global organization across multiple legal entities in multiple geographies.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with vendors and internal teams.
  6. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience working in the Pharmaceutical or other highly regulated industry.
  2. Planisware certification.
  3. Experience working in an IT organization and/or with IT vendors.

Hybrid work arrangements (on-site/work from home) from certain locations may be permitted in accordance with Astellas’ Responsible Flexibility Guidelines.

This position is remote and is based in Canada (Ontario).
