Job summary

Adastra Corporation is seeking a Lead QuickSight Developer to administer and automate the QuickSight platform within CPPIB’s Data Enablement & AI Pod. The role emphasizes governance and scalable data visualization infrastructure over dashboard creation, with strong focus on SPICE, RLS/CLS, and dataset provisioning.

The position is hybrid, onsite three days per week, located in New York City and Toronto, ON, offering contract-based employment.

Overview

Adastra is seeking a Lead QuickSight Developer to support CPPIB’s Data Enablement & AI Pod. This role will focus on the administration, automation, governance, and integration of the Amazon QuickSight platform, with an emphasis on building scalable and secure data visualization infrastructure rather than dashboard development. The successful candidate will bring strong hands‑on expertise with QuickSight APIs, SDKs, boto3, SPICE, dataset provisioning, security automation, and AWS data services to enable reliable and governed analytics capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Administer and automate the Amazon QuickSight platform using APIs, SDKs, and boto3
• Design and implement automated QuickSight dataset provisioning and governance processes
• Configure and manage SPICE capacity, including incremental and event‑driven refresh strategies
• Automate Row‑Level Security (RLS) and Column‑Level Security (CLS) across QuickSight datasets
• Manage QuickSight namespaces, users, groups, subscriptions, and lifecycle processes through automation
• Develop scalable automation for QuickSight administration and platform operations
• Integrate Amazon QuickSight with AWS Lake Formation to support secure and governed data access
• Establish and maintain platform governance, security, and operational standards for QuickSight
• Troubleshoot QuickSight platform, dataset, refresh, access, and integration issues
• Collaborate with data engineering, cloud, and analytics teams to support enterprise data enablement initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Strong hands‑on experience administering and automating the Amazon QuickSight platform
• Strong experience with Amazon QuickSight APIs, SDKs, and boto3
• Deep understanding of SPICE, including incremental and event‑driven refresh and capacity management
• Experience automating QuickSight dataset provisioning and governance
• Strong experience implementing and automating Row‑Level Security (RLS) and Column‑Level Security (CLS)
• Experience managing QuickSight namespaces, users, subscriptions, and user lifecycle processes
• Hands‑on experience integrating QuickSight with AWS Lake Formation
• Strong understanding of AWS cloud services and data governance concepts
• Experience developing automation and repeatable processes for enterprise analytics platforms
• Strong troubleshooting, problem‑solving, and communication skills
• Experience working in enterprise data and analytics environments

• Experience supporting large‑scale enterprise QuickSight environments
• Experience with broader AWS data and analytics services
• Experience with infrastructure automation and DevOps practices
