Job summary

EllisDon Corporation in Fort Saskatchewan, Canada, is seeking a Purchasing Lead to manage a team of purchasers and own the full purchasing cycle across multiple construction projects. You will review requirements, budgets, and schedules, and negotiate with suppliers to optimize costs, timing, and service levels.

You will collaborate with Project Managers, Finance and Accounts Payable to ensure accurate purchase orders and timely downstream payments, while maintaining ethical purchasing practices

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Procurement, Logistics, Construction Management, Commerce, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant construction procurement experience.
• Minimum 5–8 years of purchasing experience, including 3–5 years within the construction industry.
• Previous lead experience is highly favored.
• Experience in equipment shop pushing and Explorer Eclipse is an asset.
• Demonstrated experience supporting self-performing heavy civil and infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, rentals, supplier networks, and regional market conditions across Western Canada.
• Strong negotiation, analytical, planning, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage high-volume purchasing demands with multiple stakeholders and time-sensitive procurement requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of purchasers.
• Oversee the full purchasing cycle from requisition review to purchase order creation and expediting.
• Review project requirements, budgets, and lead times to identify procurement needs and reduce delays.
• Monitor market conditions, supplier capacity, and long-lead items to mitigate risks.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, delivery schedules and supplier agreements to support project objectives.
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, Finance and Accounts Payable for alignment and timely payments.
