Job description

Annual Base Pay Range: CAD 145,691 - CAD 158,935

This is a hybrid on-site role, employees will be expected to work out of our Toronto office Tuesday-Thursday each week, remote Monday, and Friday.

This job posting is for an existing vacancy.

Who We Are

The Merchandising XD team, a part of Wayfair’s Global Supplier Technology (GST) organization, is responsible for the operations that enable our suppliers to work with Wayfair and its proprietary brands. Our mission is to provide suppliers with the tools they use across product addition, product management, and merchandising content, as well as enable internal employees to promote the best products to end consumers. We design each area to streamline processes, enhance visibility, and improve overall efficiency for suppliers working with Wayfair.

What You’ll Do

As a Lead Product Designer for Merchandising XD, you'll lead design for the most complex parts of our supplier experience on the Partner Home platform — owning both strategy and execution. You’ll think like a design technologist: making sense of complex systems, finding clarity in ambiguity, and driving vision through to launch. A big part of this role is evolving our platform from static workflows into an intelligent, agentic ecosystem, using AI to accelerate the design-to-development pipeline.

  • Act as both a strategist and product practitioner, crafting thoughtful and effective user experiences that balance business goals with customer needs for both static interfaces (structured data) and agentic workflows (LLM-driven interactions, chat-to-action, and proactive AI assistance)
  • Collaborate directly with product managers, engineers, designers, business stakeholders, and senior leadership throughout all stages of the product-development lifecycle.
  • Mentor and guide junior designers, setting a high bar for design quality and helping to develop best practices for the team.
  • Triangulate data from multiple inputs to inform design and product strategy.
  • Represent the voice of our customers (suppliers) in product definition and strategy meetings.
What You’ll Need
  • 5+ years of product design experience, including experience leading complex projects from concept to launch.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Industrial Design, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience designing for extranet portals/dashboards, and AI Agents.
  • Fluency with AI as both a design accelerator and a design material — able to shape user experiences that incorporate AI capabilities responsibly.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills.
  • A strong understanding of design processes and a realistic grasp of what's feasible in a digital environment.
  • Expertise in producing design deliverables, including detailed user flows, user journeys, wireframes, prototypes, and front-end development specs for engineering handoff.
  • Expert-level proficiency in modern design tools, including Figma, Cursor, and Claude (or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JS, enough to understand the feasibility of execution.
  • The ability to think at a systems level and design solutions that are scalable and extensible.
  • Experience presenting and defending designs to senior and executive leadership.
  • A portfolio or case studies of shipped work that demonstrates an ability to effectively design for highly technical experiences, a strong user advocacy, a data-driven approach, and strategic thinking.
Bonuses
  • Hands‑on experience leveraging AI plugins, MCPs, and automation to streamline the design-to-development workflow.
  • Prior experience building or contributing to a design system, specifically for multi‑tenant or extensible platforms.
  • Experience planning and conducting user research, and translating findings into design decisions
