Job summary

BBA Consultants invites a Lead Mineral Processing Engineer to oversee projects from prefeasibility to commissioning across Canada. You will guide cross-disciplinary teams, perform process simulations and define equipment and process needs. Expect collaboration with experts, mentorship, and opportunities for growth.

The role emphasizes leadership in metallurgical design, client liaison, and business development, with travel to domestic and international destinations as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mineral processing, metallurgy or chemical engineering required.
  • Professional engineer registration is required or pursued actively.
  • 10+ years of experience in mineral processing or related fields requested.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage cross-discipline teams to ensure cost effective, safe and timely completion of projects.
  • Review and approve process plant material balance, PFDs, P&IDs, layouts and technical specifications.
  • Prepare operating cost evaluations and liaise with clients on technical reports and proposals.
  • Train and mentor younger engineers and participate in business development.

Members of our multidisciplinary team pool their expertise, carry out high-tech process simulations and determine the equipment, tools and processes needed. An Overview Of Your Mandates And Responsibilities
  • Work respectfully and collaboratively with a team of skilled engineers, designers and project support staff
  • Lead and manage a variety of cross-discipline teams to ensure cost effective, safe and timely completion of projects that meet or exceed client expectations
  • Lead, review and approve process plant material balance, process design criteria, PFDs, P&IDs, plant layouts, technical specifications and technical evaluations
  • Prepare operating cost evaluations
  • Liaise with clients on a technical level and present reports, trade-off studies, publications and presentations in a professional manner
  • Create and review proposals
  • Train and share experiences with younger engineers
  • Participate in business development and corporate growth

Summary Of Certifications And Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, mineral processing, metallurgy or chemical engineering
  • Registered as a professional engineer
  • Over ten years of experience in mineral processing such as gold, copper, coal, green energy materials (lithium, graphite, etc.) or base metal operations and/or design
  • General areas of expertise include metallurgical test work planning and analysis, crushing, grinding, flotation, hydrometallurgy, water treatment, gravity separation, pressure oxidation, heap leaching, CIL/CIP and electrowinning/refining
  • Strong track record of successfully completed projects in the mining industry
  • Available for occasional travel to domestic and international destinations
  • Enthusiasm and capacity for business development and corporate growth
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and process simulation software
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both spoken and written
  • Significant asset: feasibility study and NI 43-101 experience
  • Asset: excellent communication skills in French, both spoken and written
  • Asset: interested in process control and optimization
  • Asset: operations and/or consulting experience
  • Asset: demonstrated ability to find innovative solutions to complex metallurgical problems
