Job summary

BBA Consultants is seeking a Senior Chemical Engineer to join a Canadian-wide team delivering high-quality expertise in the AFC and oil & gas sectors. You will lead projects, mentor staff, and strengthen client relationships while contributing to the growth of the Western Canada team.

The role emphasizes leadership, mentoring, and technical excellence, with opportunities to collaborate with national and international teams and drive business development across Western Canada.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering.
  • Over 3 years of experience in a consulting firm.
  • Over 8 years of relevant experience in project execution in AFC, oil and gas or chemicals.
  • P. Eng. designation in Alberta or eligibility to register with APEGA.
  • Proficient with Aspen Plus and Aspen HYSYS process simulation software.
  • Proficient with Fathom or other simulation software for hydraulic calculations.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication.
  • Asset: Bilingual (English and French).

Responsibilities

  • Help develop and scale up processes and projects in the oil and gas, advanced fuels and chemicals sectors.
  • Work closely on projects with our national and international teams, contributing to a shared bottom-line.
  • Support growth in Western Canada by driving business development opportunities, leveraging your network to generate proposals, delivering presentations to new clients and building strong relationships by consistently providing high-quality work.
  • Lead and support the AFC process team in executing projects across various industry sectors, managing both single- and multidisciplinary mandates of varying sizes.
  • Lead and support the AFC process team by organizing, preparing and reviewing process engineering deliverables such as mass and energy balances using simulation software; developing process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and technical specifications for process equipment; and
  • completing technical and economic studies
  • Participate in risk assessment studies (HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, What-if)
