Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Lead Planner / Scheduler to join our Toronto project team. You will develop and manage schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, and related tools, coordinating with engineering and project teams to deliver critical milestones.

The role demands extensive experience (15–20 years) in planning for complex engineering projects, strong communication, and on-site availability in downtown Toronto. Certifications in AACE, PMI, or CMAA are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering Management or related field.
• 15–20 years of planning/scheduling experience on engineering projects, complex projects preferred.
• Proficiency with MS Project and Primavera P6; PMI/AACE/CMAA certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Review project documents with teams to define scope and align with WBS and budgets.
• Establish schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, and/or TILOS to meet requirements.
• Create and load resources, level workloads, and adjust plans as needed.
• Identify critical and near-critical paths and reflect assumptions in baselines.
• Lead review sessions with teams and clients to secure buy-in and baselines.
• Update schedules with changes and coordinate with project and client teams.
• Support other project controls functions and related planning duties.

Overview

Come join us in reshaping the future with AtkinsRéalis. AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Lead Planner / Scheduler to join our team in Toronto, Ontario. This role will support a transformative transit infrastructure project and will be part of a high-performing project team that is dedicated to delivering this complex undertaking through collaboration and a best-for-project vision.

Your role

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

• Review project documents and liaise with project teams to identify scope components and requirements, including layout of the scope over the work breakdown structure as agreed with project leads and correlates with the budget structure.
• Establish project schedules using known industry software to meet project requirements (Primavera P6, MS Project and/or TILOS).
• Create, arrange, load and assess schedule resources to different schedule levels and adjust/level resources to meet project plans.
• Identify the critical path and near-critical path using CPM scheduling method and reflect the same along with other schedule assumptions on the basis of the schedule.
• Conduct review sessions with project teams and clients in order to obtain the team's buy-in and set schedules as baselines.
• Confer with project and client teams on a regular basis, track time and sequence changes to update the schedule and issue baseline schedule revisions as applicable.
• Support other project management and project controls functions and perform other duties related to planning and scheduling when required by project teams.

About You

• Minimum 15 - 20 years of related experience in planning and scheduling within Engineering projects (experience in complex project types is preferred).
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Engineering Management or a related field.
• Proficiency in scheduling software; MS-Project and Primavera P6.
• Certification with AACE, PMI or CMAA is preferred.
• Availability to work on site Monday to Friday weekly at downtown Toronto project site
• Strong communication and presentation skills

Expected compensation for this role is between $140,000 - $190,000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
