Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada seeks a Project Planner to develop and maintain comprehensive project schedules for major EPC programs. You will load resources and budgets, set baselines, and guide junior planners, while coordinating with cost controllers on Primavera data.

Qualifications

  • Proficient with CPM, earned value, and progress measurement.
  • Experience with project controls systems and reporting tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Primavera P6.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare project schedules using best planning practices.
  • Load resource and budget data into schedules.
  • Set up and maintain baseline schedules.
  • Update schedules and provide guidance to junior planners.
  • Extract Primavera data files and share with cost controllers.
  • Issue schedules for internal and external use.
  • Monitor and control progress against the schedule.
  • Prepare and update resource requirement reports.
  • Report on critical schedule issues and risks.
  • Identify and explain variances between current schedule, plan, earned value, and forecasts.
  • Ensure proper progress measurement is in place across all projects and portfolios.
  • Present schedule updates to project leads and management.
  • Advise on schedule risks that may impact project or portfolio objectives.
  • Interface with project controls teams to maintain integrated cost-schedule systems.

Job Description Overview The Project Planner supports planning and scheduling activities across major projects. This role is responsible for developing, maintaining, and reporting on project schedules, ensuring alignment with project objectives and performance standards.

Your role
  • Prepare project schedules using best planning practices.
  • Load resource and budget data into schedules.
  • Set up and maintain baseline schedules.
  • Update schedules and provide guidance to junior planners.
  • Extract Primavera data files and share with cost controllers.
  • Issue schedules for internal and external use.
  • Monitor and control progress against the schedule.

About you
  • University Degree (e.g., B.Eng, B.Com, etc.).
  • 5+ years of planning experience in an EPC project environment.
  • Experience with project controls systems and reporting tools.
  • Strong knowledge of project planning techniques including CPM, earned value, and progress measurement.
  • Familiarity with project controls policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Primavera P6.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with clients, partners, and internal teams.
  • Ability to mentor junior staff and support project cost controllers.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication, report writing, and presentation skills.
