Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Principal Space Vehicle Autonomy Architect to lead on-orbit autonomy strategies and fleet-level operations. You will work across vehicle, sensor/payload, and ground elements to enable autonomous space systems for national security, civil government, and commercial customers.

The role requires a strong technical background, leadership, and a passion for delivering extensible, high‑performance autonomy solutions while mentoring teams and driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• BS in Aerospace, Software, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Systems Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in space mission design and autonomous systems.
• 10+ years in space autonomy domain including on-orbit operations and RPO.
• Experience with fleet-level autonomy and CONOPs development.
• Proven experience with MATLAB/Simulink, STK, FreeFlyer or GMAT.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• U.S. citizen or eligible for security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers and teams to identify and track autonomy deliverables.
• Author proposals for national security, civil government, and commercial on-orbit ops.
• Coordinate with GNC, ATX, Flight Software, and Sensor/Payload teams for trade studies.
• Set goals and metrics to deliver autonomous solutions on schedule and budget.
• Lead on-orbit autonomy architectures, rendezvous and multi-spacecraft coordination.
• Develop verification and testing processes ensuring requirements compliance.
• Mentor teams to propagate autonomy philosophy and techniques.
• Support live mission operations with real-time anomaly handling.
