Job summary

Rogers Communications, Inc. is seeking a Lead Network Architect (DNS/DHCP) to join the Internet Protocol Network, Ops and Automation Team in Brampton, ON.

You will configure and troubleshoot DOCSIS provisioning systems, manage DNS/DHCP services, and drive automation through Bash/Python. The role requires hands-on PCP/PNR experience, strong TCP/IP skills, and comfort working in production environments with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Experience with CableLabs DOCSIS specifications
  • GPON technologies and service provisioning experience
  • Strong TCP/IP knowledge and packet analysis
  • Experience with firewalls and load balancers
  • Basic understanding of network security guidelines and best practices
  • Knowledge of service monitoring and KPIs collection
  • Ability to analyze RFCs and vendor compatibility issues
  • Hands-on PCP and PNR experience
  • Proficiency in DNS, DHCP, TFTP and Infoblox solutions
  • Advanced Linux system administration and VMware virtualization
  • Bash and Python scripting (basic to intermediate)
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

Who we are looking for:

We are seeking a Lead Network Architect (DNS/DHCP) for our Internet Protocol Network, Ops and Automation Team.

What you’ll do:
  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot DOCSIS provisioning systems, specifically Cisco Prime Cable Provisioning (PCP).
  • Support and maintain GPON and DOCSIS DHCP services, specifically Cisco Prime Network Registrar (PNR).
  • Administer and optimize DNS, DHCP and TFTP services, including Infoblox integration.
  • Ensure compliance with CableLabs DOCSIS and Packet Cable specifications and best practices.
  • Perform advanced Linux system administration tasks in production environments.
  • Write and maintain basic Bash and Python scripts to automate system processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support large-scale network deployments.
  • Provide technical expertise for incident response, problem management, and capacity planning.
  • Develop Method of Procedure (MOP) and Acceptance Test Plan (ATP) documents for both lab testing and production deployments.
  • Execute operating system and application upgrades, tuning, and patch management in alignment with company policies and standards.
  • Coordinate with external vendors to resolve issues related to services and platform performance.
What you bring:
  • Strong knowledge of CableLabs DOCSIS specifications.
  • Experience with GPON technologies and service provisioning.
  • In-depth understanding of the TCP/IP stack, protocols; packet capture, and analysis tools
  • Experience with firewalls and load balancers
  • Basic understanding of network security guidelines and best practices
  • Understanding of service monitoring principles, KPIs collection, and data trending
  • Ability to analyze RFCs and determine possible causes of incompatibilities between different vendors
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Prime Cable Provisioning (PCP).
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco Prime Network Registrar (PNR).
  • Proficiency in DNS, DHCP, TFTP, including Infoblox solutions.
  • Advanced skills in Linux system administration (networking, security, troubleshooting).
  • Advanced skills in VMWare virtual machine deployment, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Entry-level to intermediate knowledge of Bash and Python scripting.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
