Qualifications

• Certified Industrial Mechanic (Millwright) with Red Seal preferred.
• Extensive experience with mine hoisting systems.
• Previous supervisory or lead-hand experience in mining or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and hoist safety standards.
• Ability to read technical drawings, OEM manuals, and regulations.
• Strong leadership and decision-making ability.
• Advanced troubleshooting under pressure.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills.
• High attention to detail and accountability.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure preventative maintenance and inspections on hoist systems.
• Review and maintain mechanical logs and inspection reports.
• Lead troubleshooting and response to hoist breakdowns or critical issues.
• Plan and execute major maintenance activities (rope changes, rebuilds, shutdowns).
• Coordinate with electrical, operations, and engineering teams.
• Enforce lockout/tagout and safe work procedures.
• Manage performance, attendance, and training requirements.
• Provide direction, coaching, and mentorship to trades personnel.
