Job description

We are currently seeking a reliable, hard‑working individual to fill the role of Lead Mill Operator at our FeedMax facility in Winnipeg, MB. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this position will provide excellence in coaching, communication, and direction to milling staff. As a Lead Miller, you will be responsible for operating all milling equipment in the production of grain‑based animal feed.

Responsibilities

• Leads the shift team and operates all milling manufacturing systems including mixing, grinding and pelleting.
• Ensures the shift is adhering to all safety regulations and that any non‑compliances are corrected and documented.
• Oversees the milling operations and makes appropriate adjustments to meet product specifications and operational performance targets.
• Coaches and trains milling staff to solve problems and promotes an inclusive culture that seeks continuous improvements.
• Participates in daily shift change meetings.
• Becomes proficient in the operation of all computer equipment to efficiently operate the equipment necessary to grind, batch, mix, condition, pellet, crumble and load out feed products.
• Develops a thorough working knowledge of the equipment operated to be able to perform maintenance and repairs.
• Makes equipment adjustments and performs minor maintenance as needed.
• Is responsible for obtaining necessary finished feed samples to maintain the quality of feed loaded.
• Tests products to ensure quality standards are met.
• Completes documentation in accordance with all policies and procedures.
• Operates in accordance with all food safety requirements and assists with program initiatives.
• Participates in all relevant in‑house training.
• Maintains cleaning standards in all areas of the mill.
• Participates in a respectful work environment where employees can bring forward not only ideas and improvements but concerns of all nature, including safety.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of milling experience.
• Ability to lead staff, develop good working relationships and work independently.
• Must be able to work shift work.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 25 kg.
• Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to work in a processing environment (steam processing, heights, no dust allergies).
• Feed processing background.
• Able to complete respirator fit testing.
• Mechanical aptitude preferred.
