The Opportunity: This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Mechanical Engineer to work autonomously on some of Canada's most innovative engineering projects. You should have experience managing complex, large-scale projects across transportation, industrial, municipal, institutional, and commercial sectors.

Job Description: As a technical leader, you will mentor engineers and designers, oversee engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications, and act as a project design lead, representing WSP in meetings and with clients.

What you can expect to do:

  • Support project proposals with preliminary fee estimates and resource planning.
  • Deeply understand mechanical systems such as HVAC, hydronic heating and cooling, ventilation, snow melting, and in-floor heating.
  • Manage plumbing and fire protection systems, including potable water, sanitary, storm water, natural gas, fire suppression, and BAS.
  • Provide daily guidance to design teams, attend meetings, and represent WSP to clients.
  • Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge, and support technical development.
  • Lead technical aspects of proposals, project management, and business development efforts.
  • Manage multidisciplinary project teams, ensuring client requirements are met.

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 15+ years of consulting experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PEO or equivalent).
  • Experience with transportation projects such as roads, rail, airports, ports, and marinas.
  • Familiarity with various project delivery methods like Design-Build, PDB, DBF, DBFM, IPD, and traditional bidding.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, BAS, and related codes and standards.
