Job summary

Johnson Controls in Canada is hiring a sprinkler service/inspection fitter to inspect wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge systems, perform service calls and repairs, and travel as needed. Must pass Red Seal and Backflow certs and have 5+ years of experience.

You will document work, guide apprentices, lift up to 70 lbs, climb ladders, and maintain safety and customer service standards while supporting on-call rotations and occasional overnight travel.

Qualifications

  • Sprinkler Fitter Red Seal Certified.
  • Backflow Certification.
  • 5+ years of experience in Fire Sprinkler/Suppression industry.
  • Experience reading blueprints, submittals and manuals.
  • Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of lifting 50–70 lbs and performing physical labor.
  • Able to work in ladders, scaffolding and tight spaces up to 40 ft.
  • Flexibility for weekends and on-call rotations.
  • Overnight travel may be required.
  • Demonstrate strong customer service and safety adherence.
  • Maintain truck inventory and learn quickly.
  • Valid driver's license with suitable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect sprinkler-based systems (wet, dry, pre-action, deluge).
  • Perform service calls and repairs; travel as needed.
  • Provide instructions to apprentices; follow safety policies.
  • Carry/move equipment up to 70 lbs and work in varied positions.
  • Communicate with branch staff and customers for satisfaction.

What you will do

Perform the inspection of sprinkler-based systems, and complete service calls and repairs on sprinkler-based systems. Must be able to work alternative shifts or weekends to meet customer and/or job requirements. Must perform all duties in a safe and professional manner. Must be willing to travel.

Company vehicle, tools, and equipment provided to complete all jobs.

How you will do it
  • As a sprinkler Service/Inspection fitter, you will efficiently and neatly perform work on wet, dry, pre-action, and deluge sprinkler systems.
  • You will maintain proper documentation for work performed and must adhere to company safety policies and procedures.
  • You will be provided verbal and written instructions, as well as provide verbal and written instructions to apprentices.
  • You will carry/move equipment and tools weighing up to 70lbs and be capable of performing physical labor.
  • You will perform work in unusual and sometimes difficult positions, such as climbing ladders, scaffolding, and high lift equipment.
  • Exhibit effective customer service skills by consistently communicating with the branch staff and customers to ensure complete customer satisfaction.
  • You will maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • You will have a positive attitude and the ability to adapt quickly.
What we look for
  • Sprinkler Fitter Red Seal Certified.
  • Backflow Certification
  • 5+ years of experience in Fire Sprinkler/Suppression industry.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting blueprints, submittals, and operational/product manuals.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult position such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.
  • Able to participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
  • Overnight travel will be required.
  • Demonstrate a high level of customer service.,
  • Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
  • Ability to adhere to, implement, and always follow safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.

Pay Range: $52.76 hourly rate determined by the CBA/rate sheet. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. The posted salary range reflects the target compensation for this role. However, we recognize that exceptional candidates may bring unique skills and experiences that exceed the typical profile.
