Job summary

Johnson Controls is seeking skilled Installation and Service Technicians to help keep fire alarm and security systems reliable for customers across Canada. The role involves troubleshooting, programming, and servicing installed panels and components with a strong emphasis on safety and customer service.

You will join a team that values collaboration, safety, and ongoing training to stay at the forefront of building protection technologies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid CFAA Certification.
  • Tech Savvy with computer basics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with fire alarm systems and vendors is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and repair installed systems including panel programming and device replacement.
  • Organize and apply technical resources and information to tasks.
  • Maintain documentation of activity and productivity.
  • On-call and after-hours work may be required.
  • Collaborate with customers to provide excellent service.

What you will do:

Our extensive training program includes on the job training online courses and instructor led certification courses by manufacturer.

How you will do it:
  • This skilled position involves troubling shooting and repairing installed systems. Including panel repair/reprogram, device replacement/repair, resolving low voltage circuit troubles and system testing.
  • Organize and effectively apply technical resources, information, material, and support to assure efficient execution of all assigned tasks.
  • Candidate must possess excellent written/verbal communication and outstanding customer service skills.
  • Position involves the programming of fire alarm, security, and access control system panels.
  • Complete and submit all required task-related, activity, productivity, and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • On call and after-hours work required on occasion at customer need.
What we look for: Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Possess valid CFAA Certification.
  • Tech Savy
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with fire alarm, with various vendors (ex. Notifier, Chubbs Edwards, Siemens, Mircom, Simplex)
  • A good working knowledge of computers is necessary. Microsoft office Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions as well as completing reports.
  • Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 25 lbs. Able to work in unusual and sometimes difficult position such as climbing ladders, scaffolding and high lift equipment up to 40 feet, working within ducts, crawl spaces, above ceilings, etc
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends to meet customer requirements.
  • Overnight travel may be required. Demonstrate a high level of customer service.
  • Maintain truck inventory to ensure timely response to customer needs.
  • Ability to adhere to, implement, and follow safety guide‑ lines and procedures at all times.
  • Strong organizational skills, positive attitude, and an ability to learn quickly.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets company requirements.
  • Retain any licenses that are required by National, City and Local codes.
  • Ability to work individually and also in a group setting.
Preferred
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, diagrams and specifications.
  • Bilingual French and English
