Job summary

Sherwood Electromotion Inc. in Vaughan, Ontario is seeking an Electrical Mechanic to read blueprints, test electrical and mechanical equipment, and troubleshoot electro‑mechanical systems in a hands‑on maintenance role.

You will wind, assemble and install coils; repair motors, transformers and switchgear; instruct apprentices; and uphold safety standards at a busy site.

This role requires 2–3 years of experience and an Electrical Mechanic Trade Certification.

Qualifications

  • Electrical Mechanic Trade Certification required.
  • 2–3 years of experience in maintenance, repair and testing.
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints to determine work requirements.
  • Test and observe electrical and mechanical conditions of equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electric motors, transformers, switchgear, generators, and other electro‑mechanical equipment.
  • Use machining tools to fabricate or recondition parts.
  • Replace or recondition shafts, bearings, commutators and other components.
  • Instruct apprentices.
  • Wind, assemble and install various types of coils.
  • Perform static or dynamic balancing of armatures or rotors.
  • Test and repair or replace faulty wiring or components in electrical switchgear.
  • Test repaired motors, transformers, switchgear or other electrical apparatus to ensure proper performance.
  • Supervisory experience.
