Job summary

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree in science, environmental management, or related discipline.
  • Considerable experience leading and mentoring a team of professionals, preferably in a compliance and enforcement setting.
  • Experience interpreting and applying legislation, preferably the Yukon Environment Act and Waters Act.
  • Experience conducting inspections, developing inspection and compliance plans and strategies in a regulatory environment.
  • Experience with sampling methods and best practices for environmental monitoring would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team to verify compliance with Environment Act & Waters Act through inspections.
  • Provide guidance to stakeholders and respond to environmental complaints and spills.
  • Oversee Yukon’s 24/7 spill reporting and response program and ensure timely action.
