Englobe is hiring a Lead Electrical Designer for our Calgary office to drive complete electrical design packages for energy sector projects. You will guide junior designers, coordinate with vendors, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

You will apply AutoCAD, NavisWorks, Bluebeam Revu, SP3D/SPI, and EHT tools, supporting FEED activities and design calculations while maintaining safety and schedule performance.

Formación

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Design Technology or extensive equivalent industry design experience.
• Extensive office-based electrical design execution for industrial energy sector projects (EPC/consulting).
• Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD, NavisWorks, and Bluebeam Revu; SP3D/SPI and EHT tools are a strong asset.
• Deep understanding of industrial electrical calculations and the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
• Construction, modular layout, or fabrication experience is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to guide teams.

Responsabilidades

• Lead and oversee development of complete electrical engineering, design, and drafting work packages.
• Produce and review SLDs, low/medium voltage schematics, layouts, cable schedules, panels, I/O, wiring diagrams.
• Support FEED activities including design schedules, equipment estimating, MTO generation, procurement packages.
• Lead design calculations including sizing, lighting, voltage drop, cable tray fill.
• Drive quality assurance and ensure compliance with standards and schedules.
• Coordinate with vendors and interdisciplinary teams; mentor junior designers.

Your main responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the development of complete electrical engineering, design, and
  drafting work packages for energy sector projects
• Produce and review high-quality industrial electrical deliverables, including single-line
  diagrams (SLDs), low/medium voltage power schematics, physical layouts, cable
  schedules, panel layouts, I/O schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Support FEED activities, including input into design schedules, equipment estimating,
  MTO generation, and procurement packages
• Lead the execution and review of industrial design calculations, including equipment and
  cable sizing/selection, lighting levels, voltage drop, and cable tray fill
• Drive quality assurance across design packages, ensuring compliance with client
  standards, drafting conventions, and project schedules while monitoring deliverable
  progress
• Manage technical coordination with equipment vendors, review vendor drawings, and
  collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary engineering and project team members
• Provide direct technical guidance and mentorship to intermediate and junior designers—
  fostering discipline growth in constructability, schedule impacts, change management,
  cost awareness, and environmental considerations
• Apply and promote Englobe's health and safety rules.

What makes you unique

• Degree or Diploma in Electrical Design Technology from an accredited technical institute, or extensive equivalent industry design experience
• Extensive background in office-based electrical design execution for industrial energy sector projects (EPC/consulting environment)
• Advanced working knowledge of AutoCAD, NavisWorks, and Bluebeam Revu for digital markups and redline reviews. Experience with SmartPlant (SP3D/SPI) and specialized software (e.g., EHT calculation tools) is a strong asset
• Deep understanding of industrial electrical calculations (cable/protection sizing, EHT, tray fill, lighting) and a solid working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)
• Practical construction, modular layout, or fabrication experience is a strong asset
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently, guide
  technical teams, and communicate effectively across internal departments, clients, and
  vendors
