Job summary

Englobe is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to lead electrical scope on EPC projects in Alberta. You will specify equipment, perform system studies, and develop diagrams while mentoring the team. Travel to site and client meetings will be required.

You will collaborate with mechanical and electrical designers to deliver robust electrical packages, benefits, and sustainable designs across diverse projects.

Qualifications

• Electrical Engineering degree required with 10–15+ years in an EPC environment.
• Registered professional engineer with APEGA (Alberta) or eligible for registration.
• Proficient in ETAP and SKM Power Tools; strong MS Office skills.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication; ability to travel to job sites.

Responsibilities

• Specify and procure electrical equipment (switchgear, MCCs, VFDs, UPS, generators, etc.).
• Support mechanical engineers in equipment specification.
• Review and markup vendor drawings and integrate with projects.
• Develop load lists and electrical equipment specifications.
• Perform power system studies (short circuit, coordination, arc flash, harmonics).
• Develop protection settings for project start-up.
• Create single line diagrams for LV/MV systems.
• Develop area classifications and fugitive emissions studies.
• Oversee electrical designers and construct packages.
• Write scopes of work and field construction packages.
• Facilitate field construction and fabrication tasks.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to the team.
• Lead electrical portions of small/medium projects.

Your main responsibilities

• Specify and procure electrical equipment such as Switchgear, MCC’s, VFD’s, UPS Systems, Generators, Heat Trace Controllers, Harmonic Filters, Electrical Buildings and induction motors.
• Support mechanical engineers in the specification of equipment such as pumps, compressors, process equipment packages.
• Review and mark-up vendor drawings with the full understanding of how they integrate with the project.
• Develop load lists, electrical equipment lists and other calculations to support the sizing and specification of equipment.
• Perform power system studies such as short circuit, coordination, arc flash, harmonic mitigation and transient motor starting using applicable software such as ETAP and SKM power tools.
• Develop VFD, relay and other protection settings as required for a project start-up.
• Develop single line diagrams for medium and low voltage industrial power systems.
• Create area classification drawings and details, and conduct fugitive emissions studies.
• Oversee and support the electrical designers in developing full electrical drawing packages.
• Write scope of work documents and create construction work packages.
• Facilitate field construction and fabrication tasks.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to other team members.
• Lead the electrical portion of small and medium sized projects with support as required.

What makes you unique

• An Electrical Engineering Degree with a minimum of 10-15+ years experience working in an EPC environment.
• Registered professional engineer with APEGA (Alberta). Registration in other provinces such as British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba would be an asset but not a requirement.
• Strong capabilities using Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to use ETAP and SKM Power Tools.
• Skilled in prioritizing workloads and meeting deadlines.
• Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to job sites to scope out projects, meet with clients and construction personnel.
