Job summary

Capital One Canada is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer in the Software Studio to architect scalable data platforms and guide cross-functional teams. You will oversee high-level designs, evaluate new technologies, and ensure security standards across data pipelines.

The role emphasizes data governance, collaboration with executives, and mentoring engineers in data-centric domains, aligned with regulated environments and cloud practices.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years of experience in Software Engineering and Systems Architecture or Technology Solution design.
• At least 2 years of experience creating solutions architectures in a public cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Bachelor's/Master’s/ Diploma in CS/Software Eng or related field; TOGAF or cloud certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Architect and lead the development of scalable data platforms and distributed processing systems.
• Define and enforce enterprise-wide data governance standards including privacy and compliance.
• Drive technical strategy for data pipelines and observable data workflows.
• Mentor data engineers in stream processing, data modeling, and ML Ops.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver business value and innovation.
