Job summary

Canada Life is seeking a Data Platform Engineer to join the Canada Data Team. You will design scalable data platform solutions in a cloud environment, mentor engineers, and help shape long-term strategy while supporting on-call needs.

You will partner with product owners and developers across Toronto offices, translating business needs into reliable data services, with a focus on security, performance, and governance in a modern Azure/AWS ecosystem.

Qualifications

University/College education in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
5+ years building production data systems or platform components.
Strong Python coding skills.
Solid understanding of engineering and infrastructure best practices and ML lifecycle orientation.
Experience with Azure ML, AWS SageMaker, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, GitLab.

Responsibilities

Design and build scalable data platform solutions in a cloud environment.
Partner with internal customers to understand pain points and craft platform solutions.
Support DevOps services, platform monitoring, and deployment support for data pipelines.
Enable connectivity for models and data sources.
Provide appropriate resource access permissions for use cases.
Mentor data platform engineers and interns on the team.
Help shape long-term strategy and team growth.
