Job summary

Trolley is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to own and scale our data platform while leading a small team. You will manage Databricks lakehouse pipelines, ensure data quality, and collaborate with Finance and Product to deliver reliable analytics and AI-enabled features.

You will apply AI to data workflows, measure outcomes, and build customer-facing data products. This role offers remote work within Canada and substantial ownership across data and AI initiatives.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data engineering with ownership of a production data platform.
• Experience leading other engineers and managing small teams.
• Hands-on use of AI tools in engineering work and clear judgment on AI utility.

Responsibilities

• Lead the data team and coach the data engineer on the team.
• Own the Databricks lakehouse end to end including ingestion, modelling, quality and cost.
• Build data pipelines from production platforms and SaaS sources.
• Collaborate with Finance on month-end close, revenue calculations and reconciliations.
• Build data into product with customer-facing data products.
• Leverage AI to design and test data pipelines and improve workflows.
