Job summary

Capgemini in Toronto is seeking an experienced Data Engineer to own and operate production data pipelines. You will design, monitor, and optimize CDC-driven ingestion with Debezium and GCP-based services.

This role requires 8+ years in data engineering, strong SQL with PostgreSQL, and hands-on Java development. You will collaborate across teams, implement RCA for incidents, and help maintain robust, scalable data platforms in a hybrid onsite environment.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in production data engineering pipelines.
  • Experience with CDC using Debezium and file-based ingestion (CSV).
  • Strong knowledge of GCP services including Pub/Sub, Dataflow, and Datastream.
  • Experience with Cloud SQL PostgreSQL and data staging/curation layers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide end-to-end production support for data ingestion and processing pipelines.
  • Monitor CDC pipelines and batch ingestion across multiple source systems.
  • Triage incidents, perform RCA, and implement preventive fixes.
  • Work with GCP Pub/Sub topics, subscriptions, DLQs, and alerting mechanisms for pipeline monitoring.
  • Support data processing layers including staging and transformed datasets.
  • Coordinate deployments and testing across lower environments.
  • Lead AMS operations, manage incident communication and stakeholder updates.
  • Maintain runbooks and guide L2/L3 support teams.
  • Identify recurring issues and drive improvements for reliability.
