Job summary

Jobgether, on behalf of a partner company, seeks an Engineering Manager - Core Infrastructure based in Canada. Lead a team building foundational infrastructure for scalable, business-critical systems across multi-cloud platforms.

Role blends people leadership with hands-on architecture, reliability, cloud strategy and platform engineering. Shape large-scale distributed systems and drive cost efficiency while collaborating across the organization.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in software/infra engineering or related field.
• 4+ years of experience leading engineering teams, including Senior Engineers.
• Strong config management experience with Chef, Puppet, Salt or equal.
• Hands-on provisioning/orchestration with Pulumi, Terraform, Ansible, Temporal.
• Deep knowledge of immutable architecture and large-scale distributed systems.
• Professional Python or Go development experience with core concepts.
• Experience managing large-scale Linux environments.
• Cloud infra operations in AWS and GCP preferred.
• Experience with CI/CD, TDD and resilience practices (Chaos, SRE).
• Understanding of SRE, DevOps, GitOps; SLOs, error budgets, post-incident reviews.
• Experience building Internal Developer Platforms and reusable modules.
• Proven ability to leverage AI to improve decisions and efficiency.
• Strong communication and cross-team collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a growing team focused on core infrastructure platforms.
• Contribute to architecture and design of large-scale infra services.
• Review and approve technical designs and proposals from the team.
• Define deployment standards across multi-cloud environments.
• Build reusable infra modules and internal developer platforms.
• Drive cloud cost optimization while balancing performance and reliability.
• Own capacity planning, team planning, and retrospectives.
• Shape roadmaps for core infrastructure capabilities.
• Foster architecture discussions and knowledge sharing.
• Manage on-call practices and site reliability culture.
• Influence engineering strategy beyond the immediate team.
• Support a collaborative, flexible working environment.
