Job summary

WSP is seeking a senior Materials Engineer to lead materials engineering consulting across British Columbia, Canada, and globally. You will focus on concrete, aggregates, asphalt, durability, soils, and condition assessments, guiding projects from design through delivery.

You will mentor junior engineers, drive client engagement, and help expand WSP’s Vancouver practice with strong business development leadership and CSA/ASTM expertise.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Materials Engineering is required or equivalent.
• 10+ years of materials engineering experience in Canada, BC experience is a strong asset.
• Deep technical expertise in concrete design, condition assessment, rehabilitation, and materials testing to CSA/ASTM standards.
• Ability to independently lead complex technical assignments while balancing client, schedule, and budget.
• Proven business development including client management, proposal leadership, industry networking.
• Registered P.Eng. with EGBC (or eligible), BC Driver's Licence, field work readiness.

Responsibilities

• Deliver materials engineering consulting services across BC, Canada, and globally.
• Lead technical work in concrete, aggregates, asphalt pavement, durability, soils, and assessments.
• Prepare and review specifications, contract documents, proposals, and reports.
• Develop and validate concrete mix designs, pavement designs, repair strategies, and mass concrete mitigation.
• Perform and oversee non-destructive evaluation, service-life modelling, and durability assessments of concrete structures.
• Support business growth through client engagement, proposals, industry participation, and mentoring junior engineers.
