Job summary

Amico is seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare detailed cost estimates for heavy civil infrastructure projects in Ontario. You will manage the full estimating lifecycle, review drawings and contract documents, and coordinate with subcontractors to secure accurate pricing.

The role requires 10+ years in construction estimating/PM, proficiency with HeavyBid, and familiarity with Primavera P6. Strong writing, communication, and teamwork are essential for successful bid submissions and project

Qualifications

• Post secondary degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of combined experience in construction project management and estimating, preferably in ICI or infrastructure sectors.
• Experience estimating heavy civil or infrastructure construction projects.
• Proficiency with HeavyBid estimating software is preferred.
• Understanding of construction schedules and Primavera P6 is an asset.
• Ability to review and interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Strong technical writing and proposal development skills.
• Excellent communication and subcontractor coordination abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates and quantity takeoffs for heavy civil construction projects managing full estimating lifecycle, from bid document review through submission and project close-out.
• Review project specifications, drawings, and contract documents to determine scope and constructability.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing, particularly for electrical and other specialized scopes.
• Develop and write technical proposals and bid documentation to support project submissions.
• Support technical writing and communication required for bid packages and internal reviews.
• Analyze project schedules and understand impacts on cost and resources.
• Utilize scheduling knowledge, including familiarity with Primavera P6, to interpret construction timelines during estimating.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate cost assumptions and bid strategies.
• Participate in post-bid reviews and contribute to project close-out and lessons learned for future estimates.
• Leading project meetings and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
