Role Description

The Lead Carpenter is a full-time, on-site role based in Winnipeg, MB. This role oversees day-to-day carpentry activities, including planning work tasks, assigning duties, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule and to quality standards. Responsibilities include reading and interpreting drawings, coordinating framing and carpentry work, and guiding team members in the safe and efficient use of hand tools and power tools. The Lead Carpenter monitors site safety, communicates with supervisors and subcontractors, and helps resolve technical and construction issues as they arise. This role requires consistent on-site presence, hands‑on work, and leadership in maintaining a productive, safety‑focused work environment.

Qualifications
  • Strong carpentry skills with experience leading construction or framing projects.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and power tools, with an emphasis on safe operation and maintenance.
  • Experience in framing, including layout, structural assembly, and installation of walls, floors, and roofs.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and building codes.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to mentor and guide carpentry crews and coordinate with other trades.
  • Strong problem‑solving and organizational skills, with attention to quality and safety standards.
  • Previous experience as a journeyperson or lead carpenter; relevant certification or apprenticeship completion is an asset.
  • Physical ability to perform construction tasks, including lifting, standing, and working in varied weather conditions.
