Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Lead, Business Operations – Payward Services based in Canada.

We are looking for a highly resourceful and strategic Business Operations Lead to help scale a global financial infrastructure platform serving fintechs, banks, brokerages, and payment providers. In this role, you will act as a key operational partner to leadership, driving business planning, partner launches, performance reporting, and cross‑functional initiatives. You will build scalable processes that simplify complex operations, improve execution, and accelerate partner onboarding and product launches. Working closely with Sales, Finance, Product, Engineering, Legal, and Compliance, you will turn business priorities into actionable plans and measurable outcomes. You will also leverage AI tools, automation, and integrations to eliminate manual work and improve operational efficiency. This is a high‑ownership opportunity for a proactive builder who enjoys solving ambiguous problems and creating the operational foundations needed for sustainable growth.

Accountabilities

  • Act as a strategic operational partner to business leadership, overseeing planning cycles, goal‑setting, business reviews, leadership updates, and performance tracking.

  • Establish and maintain effective business operating rhythms, ensuring priorities, objectives, milestones, and key performance indicators are clearly defined and consistently monitored.

  • Develop reporting frameworks and dashboards that provide leadership with actionable insights into business performance, operational efficiency, and growth opportunities.

  • Lead and improve partner onboarding and launch processes, collaborating with Solutions, Product, and Compliance teams to establish repeatable workflows and accelerate time to go‑live.

  • Build scalable launch readiness frameworks, including partner launch plans, operational checklists, process documentation, stakeholder responsibilities, and milestone tracking.

  • Identify opportunities to automate manual workflows using AI tools, scripts, integrations, and no‑code solutions, improving productivity and reducing operational complexity.

  • Design and implement automation solutions across partner launches, reporting, internal coordination, and other recurring business activities.

  • Support the integration of new products, acquired businesses, and additional capabilities into existing operational frameworks and business processes.

  • Lead strategic and cross‑functional projects that span multiple departments, ensuring alignment, accountability, and timely execution.

  • Work closely with Sales, Finance, Product, Engineering, Legal, and Compliance to resolve operational challenges and improve collaboration across teams.

  • Identify process gaps and inefficiencies, develop practical solutions, and take ownership of implementation and continuous improvement.

  • Translate business requirements into clear project plans, process documentation, and technical requirements that engineering teams can implement.

  • Proactively identify operational risks, dependencies, and bottlenecks, recommending solutions that support business scalability and long‑term performance.

  • Take ownership of projects from initial problem identification through implementation, adoption, and ongoing maintenance.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of professional experience in Business Operations, Revenue Operations, Strategy, or a related operational discipline.

  • Previous in‑house experience within payments, fintech, financial services, or cryptocurrency businesses is required. Consulting experience is valued as an additional qualification but should complement, rather than replace, direct in‑house operational experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to own complex processes end to end, transforming unstructured or inefficient workflows into scalable systems that operate reliably with minimal supervision.

  • Strong experience developing operational frameworks, coordinating cross‑functional initiatives, and driving projects from planning through successful execution.

  • Practical experience using AI tools, scripts, integrations, or no‑code automation platforms to streamline workflows and eliminate repetitive manual tasks.

  • Ability to move comfortably between strategic planning and hands‑on execution, including building launch plans, improving reporting processes, and implementing automation solutions.

  • Strong analytical skills and confidence working with business data, performance metrics, reporting frameworks, and operational KPIs.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging to different audiences, explain new processes to commercial teams, present strategic recommendations to leadership, and communicate technical requirements to engineering teams.

  • Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, particularly when coordinating priorities and deliverables across multiple departments.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities and maintain operational consistency.

  • A proactive, self‑starting mindset, with the ability to identify problems, establish priorities, and create structured execution plans even when no existing roadmap or process is available.

  • Adaptability and comfort working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment where responsibilities may change as business needs develop.

  • Strong sense of accountability, ownership, and initiative, with a commitment to delivering measurable outcomes rather than simply coordinating activities.

Additional qualifications that would be an advantage

  • Previous experience in payments infrastructure, card programs, or digital asset and cryptocurrency services.

  • Familiarity with partner onboarding and launch processes within financial technology ecosystems.

  • Understanding of trading, payment processing, liquidity, custody, compliance, settlement, or other financial infrastructure services.

  • Experience integrating newly launched products, acquired businesses, or new business units into established operational frameworks.

  • Experience implementing AI‑powered business workflows and connecting multiple tools and platforms through automation.

Benefits

  • Fully remote working arrangement, with eligibility for candidates based in Canada.

  • Opportunity to work within a global financial technology ecosystem focused on advancing open and accessible financial infrastructure.

  • High level of ownership and autonomy in shaping business operations and strategic initiatives.

  • Direct collaboration with senior leadership and multidisciplinary teams across Sales, Finance, Product, Engineering, Legal, and Compliance.

  • Opportunity to build and implement scalable operational processes from the ground up.

  • Exposure to innovative technologies, including cryptocurrency infrastructure, digital assets, payments, trading, and AI‑powered automation.

  • Opportunity to lead high‑impact strategic projects and influence business growth and operational development.

  • Collaborative, international working environment that values diverse perspectives, professional expertise, and individual contributions.

  • Access to opportunities for continuous learning and professional development within a rapidly evolving industry.

  • Inclusive and merit‑based workplace that encourages initiative, adaptability, and entrepreneurial thinking.
