Job summary

Allied Properties REIT is seeking a Lead Building Operator to maintain and optimize building operations across our portfolio. You will manage maintenance, coordinate service delivery, and supervise a technical team to ensure safety, efficiency and high physical quality.

Reporting to the Manager, Technical Services, you will oversee planned and unplanned operational needs, drive energy efficiency, and support budget planning while ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of building operations experience in commercial, retail, or industrial settings.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire alarm systems.
• Aware of energy management and sustainability practices.
• Familiar with safety codes, WHMIS, and first aid/CPR training.
• Ability to read plans/drawings and interpret CAD layouts.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor team members to meet company expectations.
• Train staff on equipment troubleshooting and repairs to reduce costs.
• Coordinate tenant concerns and service delivery; use Yardi for work orders.
• Ensure all systems operate safely and comply with codes and regs.
• Inspect and repair mechanical, electrical, and HVAC/BAS systems.
• Interpret building data and work with managers to optimize systems.
• Assist in preparing the building operating budget.
• Adhere to health, safety, and security procedures and track issues.
