Job summary

Allied Properties REIT is seeking a Building Operator to maintain and operate building systems across our portfolio in Toronto. You will collaborate with the Technical Services team to address planned and unplanned operational needs, ensuring safety, efficiency and high physical quality of properties.

The role requires 1–2 years in building operations, knowledge of HVAC, electrical and fire safety systems, and a certification like BES I/II or 4th Class Power Engineer.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years in building operations or maintenance (commercial/retail/industrial).
• 2+ years with HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire alarm, and related systems.
• BES I & II, SMA/SMT, 4th Class Power Engineer, or equivalent certification.
• Strong knowledge of building systems, life safety, emergency procedures, and energy management.

Responsibilities

• Enforce service contracts, meet service levels, and supervise contractors on site.
• Inspect, maintain, and repair mechanical, electrical, HVAC/BAS, and related systems (e.g., boilers, heat pumps, RTUs, AC units, water treatment).
• Complete daily/weekly equipment readings, logs, and inspections; document irregularities.
• Respond to tenant concerns and maintenance requests; coordinate solutions and record work in Yardi FM.
