Job summary

Element by Westin Calgary Downtown is seeking a warm, friendly Lead Breakfast Server to lead the Breakfast Server team and deliver outstanding breakfast experiences for guests. You will train staff, uphold service standards, and ensure a clean, efficient breakfast area in a fast-paced hotel environment.

You will greet guests, provide attentive service, and support team members to maintain excellent guest satisfaction and safety. Evening, weekend, and holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in a lead or supervisory role in a coffee shop or hotel restaurant environment.
• Hospitality or Tourism program graduate or degree holder.
• ProServe certification.
• Flexible to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
• Able to stand, walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Breakfast Server team in daily duties to ensure professional, competent and prompt service to guests.
• Train, maintain and enforce all service standards.
• Greet guests as they enter, delivering exceptional service.

WHO are we looking for, you may ask?

We are in search of a warm, friendly, and organized Lead Breakfast Server, responsible for leading the Breakfast Server team in daily duties to ensure professional, competent and prompt service to guests, providing the best possible breakfast experience, according to restaurant and brand standards, ensuring guests are cared for and satisfied.

Key accountabilities include:

• Always provide the highest quality of service to our guests and associates alike, leading by example.
• Train, maintain and enforce all service standards.
• Maintain a safe and sanitary work environment for all associates and guests. Report unsafe conditions to manager.
• Ensure department is fully staffed and able to handle volume of business.
• Understand and teach empowerment principles to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Listen and provide support to team members, to ensure associate satisfaction and retention.
• Greet guests as they enter, consistently delivering exceptional service.
• Provide fast, friendly, professional, and responsive guest service to restaurant guests, restaurant staff and culinary production team.
• Be very familiar with all breakfast food and beverage items.
• Check with guests to ensure they are enjoying their meals and take action to correct any problems.
• Perform opening and closing procedures i.e., the set up and break down of stations, clearing and re-setting up of tables, etc.
• Maintain and ensure the overall cleanliness of the breakfast area.
• Endeavor to work in a unified and collaborative way -- one that fosters teamwork.
• Follow all safety and security policies and procedures, report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions.
• Have thorough knowledge of emergency procedures.
• Practice safety standards at all times, leading by example.
• An experienced professional with previous experience in a Lead or Supervisory role in a coffee shop or hotel restaurant environment.
• A Hospitality or Tourism program graduate or degree holder.
• Someone with an outstanding work ethic, along with a track record of reliability, punctuality and an approachable demeanor, and a strong commitment to Safety.
• Someone who places priority on providing guests with the best possible experiences, going above and beyond to ensure total satisfaction and guest loyalty.
• Able to work well under pressure, multitask and enjoys a fast-paced environment.
• Someone with a positive attitude, eagerness to learn and prefers to work as part of a team.
• Knowledge of food handling, food safety, and basic math skills.
• Valid ProServe certification.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Physically able to stand and walk for extended periods of time and lift up to 30 lbs.
