Job summary
A leading Canadian engineering firm is seeking a Lead Archaeologist in Ottawa to guide multi-phase archaeological programs and shape technical strategies. The role requires 15+ years of experience in archaeological fieldwork and a professional license in Ontario. Responsibilities include overseeing assessments, building relationships with Indigenous Nations, and supporting business development. Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of CRM business practices and effective leadership capabilities. The compensation for this role ranges from CAD 100,900 to CAD 139,000, based on experience and qualifications.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of archaeological experience with demonstrated leadership in complex, multi-phase field programs.
- Professional or research license to conduct archaeological fieldwork in Ontario in good standing with MCM.
- Deep understanding of CRM business, permitting pathways, Indigenous engagement practices, and heritage stewardship.
Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee archaeological assessments aligned with Ontario Heritage Act & MCM.
- Provide expert guidance to clients on archaeological processes and constraints.
- Mentor archaeological team members, building capability and supporting succession.
