Job summary

Fairmont Royal York in Toronto is seeking a Laundry Attendant to deliver courteous service and maintain high cleanliness standards for guest areas and back-of-house operations.

You will follow All Safe and Accor brand standards, assist with linen and laundry tasks, and work weekends or holidays as scheduled. Training and growth opportunities are provided in a renowned luxury hotel environment.

Qualifications

• Previous laundry experience desirable but not required.
• Able to communicate in English, both oral and written.
• Secondary schooling desirable not required.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning desired but not required
• Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team with minimum supervision
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize duties and complete assigned projects in a timely manner
• Professional manner, outgoing personality and ability to work on own initiative

Responsibilities

• Offer welcoming, friendly and warm service to external and internal guests.
• Provide intuitive service and anticipate guest needs.
• Foster cross-departmental relationships for a seamless experience.
• Follow cleaning standards per ALL Safe and brand guidelines.
• Handle guest and colleague requests efficiently and professionally.
• Support health and safety and other hotel policies and initiatives.
• Clean assigned areas including sanitizing, dusting, vacuuming and more.
• Operate laundry machines safely and manage linen organization.
• Move carts and load/unload laundry as required.
• Report equipment malfunctions to supervisor promptly.

Job Description

What you will be doing:

• Consistently offer welcoming, friendly and warm service to external and internal guests.
• Provide intuitive service, engaging with external and internal guests and anticipating their needs.
• Foster positive cross departmental relationships to create a seamless experience
• Follow detailed cleaning standards as set through our ALL Safe – Stay Well, Leading Quality Assurance and Accor’s brand standards
• Ensuring all guest and colleague requests are handled in an efficient and professional manner according to brand standard
• Supporting company and hotel policies and procedures including the promoting and participation in EES, Health and Safety, and Voice of Guest initiatives.
• Clean all assigned areas including: sanitizing, dusting, vacuuming, spot cleaning walls and surfaces, sweeping, mopping and removing garbage
• Safely operate all machines including ironers, dryer and towel folding equipment
• Separate and sort soiled linens
• Organize and stock linen carts according to standard
• Check all linen and terry for stains or tears and remove from circulation for treatment/discarding
• Report equipment malfunctions to the laundry manager or supervisor immediately
• Move carts/bins to designated area once adequately packed
• Load/unload clean laundry into the dryer and operate accordingly
• Return and properly tag all lost and found articles in the Housekeeping Office
• Working safely to prevent injury
• Performs other related duties and follow hotel standards as assigned/applicable
• Will work weekends, holidays and shift work as scheduled

• Frequent ascending or descending ladders, stairs and ramps
