Job summary

New Castle in Dartmouth, NS is seeking a Laundry Worker to ensure guests experience a home away from home through clean linens and towels and a collaborative housekeeping team.

You will wash, dry, iron, fold, and deliver linens, keep items organized, report issues, and follow all safety and security policies to maintain high quality and efficiency aboard the hotel’s laundry operations. You will also assist teammates as needed to keep the operation running smoothly.

Qualifications

• Ability to work safely with laundry equipment such as sheet folder machine, ironer, washers, dryers, etc.
• Physical requirements include the ability to stand for long hours and lift up to 50 pounds intermittently.
• Must possess the ability to convey and understand information in English.

• Keep clean linens organized and readily accessible; report items missing or needing repair or reordering.
• Be part of a friendly housekeeping team and help coworkers as needed.

In this role you will need to wash, dry, iron, fold, and deliver linens so you have plenty of opportunity to see the quality of the product.

Be a Safety & Security Agent

follow your hotel's established safety and security policies & procedures. Anticipate problems and call management as needed.

Job Requirements

To be successful in this role you must have the ability to work safely with various pieces of equipment, e.g. sheet folder machine, ironer, washers, dryers, etc. as well as with chemicals and various other pieces of cleaning equipment. Physical requirements include the ability to work long hours much of which is spent standing. Medium work – exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, ability to multi task. Possess the ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms, work under variable temperatures and noise levels. Near Vision - The ability to see details at close range. Must possess the ability to convey and understand information and ideas in English.
