Job summary

Lennox and Addington County General Hospital seeks a Laundry Aide in the Long-Term Care area. This casual role ensures linens and laundry items are collected, cleaned, dried, folded, and distributed following infection prevention standards and health and safety guidelines.

Hours include a rotating schedule with weekends; in-house training on safety and infection control is provided. The position emphasizes reliability, physical endurance, and contributing to a clean, dignified living environment

Qualifications

  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma.
  • Environmental Services for Front Line Staff course (or willingness to obtain in 3 months).
  • Experience in laundry in health care is an asset.
  • Experience in long-term care or healthcare laundry settings preferred.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and WHMIS standards.

  • Collect, clean, dry, fold, and distribute linens and laundry items.
  • Maintain clean, sanitary environment according to infection prevention and safety guidelines.

Basic Function and Scope:

The Laundry Aide is responsible for providing a clean, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents by ensuring that all linens, personal clothing, and laundry items are collected, cleaned, dried, folded, and distributed according to established infection prevention and control standards, health and safety guidelines, and organizational policies. The Laundry Aide plays a vital role in maintaining the dignity, comfort, and well-being of residents through timely and quality laundry service.

Hours of Work:

Schedule rotation will include all shifts and weekends.

Pay Rate:

$25.34- $26.03

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education
  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma;
  • Environmental Services for Front Line Staff course (or willingness to obtain in 3 months).
  • Experience
  • Previous experience in laundry services in a health care setting considered an asset.
  • Required Skills
  • Previous experience in a long-term care, healthcare, or commercial laundry setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices and WHMIS standards.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Demonstrated reliability, attention to detail, and commitment to resident-centered service.
Working Conditions
  • Exposure to heat, humidity, and noise from laundry equipment.
  • Frequent standing, bending, and lifting up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and potentially infectious materials where personal protective equipment may be recommended.
  • Rotating shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
