Job summary

AgeCare in Canada is seeking a Laundry Aide to support resident comfort by handling laundering duties in a long-term care setting. You will operate laundry machines, hand iron, fold and hang garments, perform simple mending, and transport items to appropriate floors while maintaining a clean work area.

Applicants should have prior laundry experience or familiarity with standard laundering practices, read and follow instructions, and possess a Grade 12 diploma or higher where possible.

• Grade 12 diploma preferred; reading/writing basic instructions required.

Responsibilities

• Sort and launder items per requirements.

The Laundry Aide assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for residents, visitors, and other staff members.What Is In It For You:• Sorts and separates items to be laundered in accordance with laundering requirements.• Operates automatic washing machines, dryers, irons and sewing machine.• Hand irons and folds/hangs garments after laundering.• Performs simple mending and repairs.• Transports laundered garments to appropriate floors.• Ensures proper identification of all personal clothing.• Maintains a clean work environment, dusting and washing equipment and shelves as required.• Maintains appropriate level of supplies (e.g. soap, bleach, fabric softener and thread).• Cleans work area upon completion of shift.What You Will Need:• Previous experience in a laundry operation is preferred.• Must understand the basics of good laundry techniques/practices.• A minimum of public-school education is required.
