Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • No direct experience required; landscape maintenance/construction knowledge is a plus.
  • Knowledge of landscape design principles and plant species.
  • Ability to operate and maintain landscaping equipment safely.
  • Physical ability to perform strenuous outdoor tasks in varying weather.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Preferred: certification in horticulture or landscape design.
  • Preferred: experience with irrigation systems and hardscape materials.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and install patios, walkways, and other hardscape features per design.
  • Assist in garden bed installation, retaining walls, and landscape elements.
  • Perform routine landscape maintenance: mowing, edging, trimming, weeding.
  • Provide plant care: watering, fertilizing, pruning, diagnosing health issues.
  • Operate and maintain equipment (mowers, compact loaders, power tools) safely.
  • Use hand tools efficiently for various tasks and keep work area clean.
  • Adhere to health, safety regulations and company policies.
  • Assist senior team members on complex projects as needed.

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Landscape Technician to join our team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the creation and maintenance of stunning outdoor spaces. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of landscape projects, including patio construction, garden installation, landscape maintenance, and plant care, utilizing both specialized equipment and hand tools. This position is a permanent, full-time role within a dynamic and growing landscaping company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and install patios, walkways, and other hardscape features according to design specifications.
  • Assist in the installation of garden beds, retaining walls, and other landscape elements.
  • Perform routine landscape maintenance tasks, including lawn mowing, edging, trimming, and weeding.
  • Provide plant care services, including watering, fertilizing, pruning, and diagnosing plant health issues.
  • Operate and maintain landscaping equipment, including but not limited to compact track loaders, lawnmowers, and power tools, in accordance with company safety protocols.
  • Utilize hand tools effectively and efficiently for various landscaping tasks.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Adhere to all relevant Health and Safety regulations and company policies.
  • Assist senior team members with more complex landscaping projects as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License (Class 5) is essential.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of landscape design principles, plant species, and horticultural practices.
  • Ability to operate and maintain landscaping equipment safely and effectively.
  • Physical ability to perform strenuous tasks outdoors, including lifting, bending, kneeling, and working in various weather conditions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in Horticulture or Landscape Design is an asset.
  • Experience operating trucks and trailers (Class 3 License)
  • Experience with irrigation system installation and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of local plant species and their suitability for the regional climate.
  • Experience working with hardscape construction materials and installation techniques.
