Our client is seeking a skilled and motivated Land Surveyor / Project Manager licensed with ABCLS to join our growing team. We are particularly interested in candidates who are Licensed British Columbia Land Surveyors. This position is based out of Winnipeg.
The Geomatics division is at the forefront of power infrastructure surveying, leveraging cutting-edge technology such as LiDAR, UAV mapping, RTK, and robotic total stations to provide precision-driven survey solutions. Supporting Quanta’s expansive network of companies, we execute legal and engineering surveys for transmission line projects, substation developments, renewable energy installations, and pole load analysis. With a rapidly growing presence in the industry, our division is evolving to manage distributed projects efficiently, fostering a strong team of professionals who are adaptable, technically proficient, and ready to take on dynamic challenges in geomatics.
- Professional licensure in good standing
- Diploma or Degree in Geomatics or Civil Engineering
- 5 years of experience as a Project Manager
- Safety tickets are an asset
- Valid Driver's License
- Very strong communication skills and English proficiency
- Good computer skills with knowledge of Excel, Outlook, and equipment-specific software
Responsibilities :
- Manage all aspects of project execution, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, and schedule.
- Establish and maintain clear communication protocols, including :
- Identifying key decision-makers from the company and the client.
- Managing change requests and approvals.
- Defining procedures for information dissemination.
- Implementing systematic processes for project data and reporting.
- Oversee project financials, set up cost controls, and conduct periodic risk reviews.
- Coordinate with company personnel to understand and address project requirements, including scheduling, costs, technical needs, and logistics.
- Supervise and manage subcontractors performing Geomatics work on projects.
- Organize shift schedules, accommodations, and mobilization for field staff unless delegated to a Field Coordinator.
- Participate in division-level meetings to coordinate crew allocations across projects.
- Contribute to division management by engaging in workload planning and team development initiatives.
- Provide clear instructions and supervision to project teams, ensuring compliance with project-specific processes and procedures.
- Actively oversee project staff, addressing questions, reviewing work quality, and providing guidance on equipment operations and workflows.
- Ensure all project charges, including time entries, subcontractor invoices, and supply costs, are accurate and properly recorded.
- Complete all required project reporting, which may include Plan of the Day updates and other documentation.
- Enforce and uphold all safety policies relevant to project work, ensuring compliance among project staff.
- Verify completion of site-specific and daily safety reporting, developing safety plans where necessary.
- Address project-specific safety concerns and communicate them effectively to staff.
- Actively participate in fostering a safe workplace, attending and contributing to all safety meetings.
