Job summary

The City of Saskatoon is hiring casual Call-In Parks Labour for the winter season, reporting to the Supervisor and performing a variety of general labour tasks across parks properties and facilities.

Duties include winter maintenance, garbage receptacle emptying, snow shovelling, operating tractors and PMEs for snow clearing, and supporting health and safety. Grade 10, Saskatchewan Class 5 license, and SGI driving record are required.

Qualifications

  • Grade 10 education.
  • Three months' current experience in parks operations winter snow clearing, tractor operation, and PME/tools.
  • Valid Saskatchewan full Class 5 Driver's Licence.
  • SGI abstract showing a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of general labour tasks.

  • Operates Power Mobile Equipment to clear snow from park paths and sidewalks.
  • Assists with snow clearing operations.

Job description

Term:14 Casual Call In positions available for approximately 6 months.

Closing Date: 09/08/2026

Labour Group: CUPE 59

This position is a CUPE 59 position and will be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Should it not be filled in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, external candidates will be considered.

Job Summary

Under supervision of the Supervisor, this position performs a variety of general labour tasks related to the care and maintenance of a variety of Parks properties and facilities over the winter season.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Performs a variety of general labour tasks.
    • Winter maintenance tasks such as garbage receptacle emptying and snow shovelling.
    • Operates Power Mobile Equipment to clear snow from park paths and adjacent sidewalks.
  • Assists with snow clearing operations.
  • Supports and promotes a safe and positive workplace culture through a variety of initiatives and activities.
  • Supports and promotes the health and safety of employees in accordance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act & Regulations in addition to the City of Saskatoon's Administrative Occupational Health & Safety Policies and departmental procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education, Training and Experience Requirements:

  • Grade 10 education.
  • Three months' current experience in parks operations experience in municipal winter snow clearing operations, operating tractors over 50 Hp, municipal tractors and mowers, and maintaining snow clearing PME and tools.
  • Possession of a valid Saskatchewan full Class 5 Driver's Licence is required.
  • Abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

  • Knowledge and ability to use a variety of hand tools.
  • Ability to operate tractors, municipal tractors and other PME with attached plow blade or snow blower attachments for snow clearing operations.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read maps and follow routes provided by supervisor.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and other civic employees.
  • Ability to work in a computerized/digital environment, including the use of Microsoft Outlook, SAP and mobile devices.
  • Physical ability to perform the assigned duties under a variety of weather conditions.
Additional Requirements

This is a Casual Call-In position, and hours of work are variable.

Weekly Hours:Determined by department

Salary Range:$20.13to$22.20CADper hour(2026rates)
