Job description

This position involves testing asphalt cement, emulsion, and related materials for the construction industry. Responsibilities include assisting with laboratory testing and evaluation of bituminous products for paving, coatings, and other industrial applications. QC/QA support for production operations is also required.

Primary Scope of Role:
  1. Review, analyze, and compare test results with specifications, tolerances, and targets to ensure product quality. Report deviations or trends immediately to the appropriate department or supervisor, and follow up to ensure appropriate actions are taken.
  2. Assist with setup, calibration, and maintenance of laboratory testing equipment, as well as general laboratory operations.
  3. Document and review quality reports and related information.
Position Requirements:
  • Current student or graduate in chemistry, chemical engineering, civil engineering technology, or a related field.
  • Experience in asphalt cement, emulsion testing, and product development is an asset.
  • Valid G class driver's license with a good driving record.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is an asset.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Results-driven with the ability to succeed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective at prioritizing and managing multiple tasks.
  • Versatile and resourceful in overcoming business challenges.
