Job summary

AGAT Laboratories in Calgary, Alberta seeks a motivated laboratory support professional to perform basic procedures, assist with instrument operation (IC/ICP), and maintain accurate data records. The role emphasizes adherence to safety, QA, and SOPs and involves routine maintenance and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Post-secondary chemical education or equivalent experience is required; prior lab exposure is an asset, with training provided.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education with a chemical degree/diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Previous lab experience is an asset; training provided.
  • Experience with IC and general lab skills is an asset.
  • Strong English communication, both verbal and written.
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills; able to work in a fast-paced team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic laboratory procedures, including sample and reagent preparation.
  • Provide general laboratory support: wash glassware, clean workstations, waste disposal.
  • Operate analytical instruments such as IC and ICP under supervision.
  • Assist with routine instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform basic analytical testing and record data per procedures.
  • Adhere to safety, QA, and SOPs; perform other duties as assigned.

What you will be doing:
  • Perform basic laboratory procedures, including the preparation of samples, reagents, standards, and calibration solutions.
  • Provide general laboratory support, including washing glassware, cleaning workstations, and proper waste disposal.
  • Operate analytical instruments such as IC and ICP under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Assist with routine instrument maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Perform basic analytical testing and record data according to established procedures.
  • Adhere to laboratory safety, quality assurance, and standard operating procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned

What you bring to the table:
  • Post-secondary education with a Chemical degree/diploma or equivalent experience
