Alberta Precision Labs is seeking a Medical Laboratory Assistant I for a multisite role serving Coaldale, Taber, and Fort MacLeod. The position is based at Coaldale Health Centre and supports a network of rural labs with a focus on safe, efficient processing of specimens.
The role requires completion of an accredited MLA program, strong teamwork, and excellent communication. Phlebotomy expertise and adaptability are essential for daily operations across locations.
This is a Multisite MLA position serving the communities of Coaldale, Taber and Fort MacLeod.Taber is located approx. 50 kilometers east of Lethbridge and 260 kilometers southeast of Calgary. Taber is known as the Corn Capital of Canada. The town has both public and separate schools and offers a temperate climate, access to state-of-the-art sports and recreation facilities and an active arts and culture scene.The town of Coaldale is located <20 kms east of the City of Lethbridge. This busy laboratory department is located within the Coaldale Health Centre and serves the patients of the town and surrounding area. Coaldale is home to the Alberta Birds of Prey Foundation as well as the Gem of the West Museum and is close to many other historic Southern Alberta attractions such as Fort Whoop-Up in LethbridgeThe town of Fort Macleod is located approximately 100kms south of Calgary and 50kms west of Lethbridge Alberta. This laboratory is located within the Fort Macleod Health Centre and serves the town of 3000 people as well as its vast surrounding farming area. Fort Macleod's main street was declared a Provincial Historic Landmark and is close to other such sites including Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump and Frank Slide. The town is approximately 100kms from the beautiful Waterton National Park as well as the Crowsnest Pass.
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:The successful applicant must have a strong sense of teamwork and possess excellent communication skills. Strong phlebotomy skills and adaptability are imperative in this position.
Preferred Qualifications:Previous rural experience is an asset.
