This is a part-time position of about 15 hours a week.

The Department of Psychology at UBC Vancouver is a recognized leader in Canada in the discipline of behavioural, social, and clinical research. The Laboratory Assistant will assist with research process and activities, performing literature search, research design, statistical analysis and testing AI tools for literature search and data summary.
Reports to the Professor Alan Kingstone. May receive direction from graduate students working directly under or in collaboration with Professor Alan Kingstone. Collaborates and works closely with student research assistants in the department.
Assist in running study sessions which may involve the use of equipment such as stationary or mobile eye trackers, virtual reality, motion capture, etc.
Recording and preliminary analysis of gaze fixation, motion, and behavioural data.
Participate in team meetings and provides regular updates on data collected.
Carries out any other related duties as required in keeping with the qualifications and requirements of positions in this classification.
The nature of work is routine and clearly defined. Improperly conducted procedures will warrant the repetition of experiments. All problems are referred to supervisor.
Reports to and works under general supervision of Professor Alan Kingstone. May receive direction from graduate students working directly under or in collaboration with Professor Alan Kingstone.
None but may explain work sequences to others.
High school graduation and a minimum one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own.
Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Some additional training in a related field.
Proficiency in software programs such as ELAN, SPSS, R, and Python.
Familiarity with OptiTrack and Unity are an asset.
Experience with data management, research design, implementation and outcome assessment are an asset.
Experience conducting research within laboratory and in-vivo settings.
Experience with qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-methods research.
Experience working with eye-trackers such as SMI, EyeLink, and Pupil Labs.
