Role Summary

The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for specimen collection, from greeting patients to specimen preparation for transportation. This vital role impacts patient care and business operations.

Responsibilities
  • Greet patients, explain the collection process, and ensure test protocols are followed.
  • Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect monitors, and conduct ECGs.
  • Handle special test collections and complete documentation.
  • Maintain client relationships and respond to inquiries.
  • Enter patient and test data accurately.
  • Prepare specimens for testing and transport.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent healthcare experience.
  • ECG training or experience is an asset.
  • Proficient in data entry.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Commitment to patient privacy and confidentiality.
Additional Information

This is a part-time regular, float position with a variable schedule. Start date is ASAP. The role involves working in various locations across British Columbia.
