Job summary

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist II at Wetaskiwin Hospital & Care Centre. You will coordinate day-to-day operations, oversee a team of MLTs/MLAs, and ensure high-quality laboratory testing across multiple departments.

The role requires strong supervisory experience, CSMLS-certified or eligible, and the ability to work in a fast-paced diagnostic setting. Regular days, Mon-Fri with 7.75-hour shifts; salary commensurate with HSAA pay scale.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.
• Active or eligible for registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
• CSMLS certification or eligibility; minimum 5 years full-time laboratory experience.
• Supervisory experience and demonstrated leadership in a diagnostic setting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day operations and quality control of the laboratory.
• Supervise a team of MLTs and MLAs to ensure high-quality test results.
• Lead investigations, safety practices and incident remediation.
• Contribute to method/equipment evaluations and quality improvement initiatives.
• Manage LIS support, staff education and routine reporting.
