Job summary

Ciena in Ottawa is seeking an inventory support associate to help maintain accurate stock records and support engineering labs. You will manage deliveries, track assets in the GEMS system, and coordinate shipping with the logistics team, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.

You will use hand-held scanners, conduct periodic audits, and keep the lab and stockrooms organized. This role emphasizes accuracy, teamwork, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Familiarity with Windows operating systems.
• Ability to work independently and manage daily tasks.
• Detail oriented and customer focused.
• Strong teamwork and initiative.
• Good organizational skills.
• Willing to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Support lab stockrooms and maintain inventory control records.
• Record deliveries, purchases, shipments, loans, and disposals in GEMS.
• Coordinate shipping of equipment with logistics; marshal, scan, pack, and complete paperwork.
• Receive delivered equipment; verify against purchase orders.
• Update inventory databases using hand-held scanners.
• Conduct periodic physical inventory audits.
• Use Jira to monitor and complete tasks.
• Maintain lab, stockroom, and receiving areas.
• Maintain labeling systems for equipment and locations.
• Monitor and resolve inventory noncompliance reports.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
