Job summary

ALS Geochemistry, Canada is seeking a Maintenance Technician to independently perform repairs, maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment in the Sample Preparation department. You will occasionally drive the company vehicle to transport samples, pick up supplies and run lab errands.

Applicants should have strong mechanical aptitude, good English communication, and the ability to work both independently and within a team.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience in general building repairs and operations.
• Experience with carpentry, plumbing, drywall and/or painting is an asset.
• 1 year experience in a sample preparation environment is an asset.
• Forklift certificate or experience is an asset.
• Current and valid provincial driver’s license with clean driving history. Abstract required.
• No physical limitations that prevent obtaining licenses or operating long distances.
• First-Aid certificate is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance, repair and troubleshoot prep lab equipment and report to Manager.
• Routine maintenance and repairs on HVAC, blowers, plumbing and carpentry.
• May supervise or train other prep maintenance technicians.
• Maintain spare parts inventory and ordering.
• Handle shipping, receiving and warehousing duties as needed.
• Keep company vehicle clean and perform daily operational checks.
• Transport samples and supplies in accordance with the Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act.
• Comply with ALS health and safety policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.
