Job summary

Sunshine Coast Health Centre in Powell River, BC is seeking a casual Kitchen Support/Dishwashing member to join our team. You will help maintain a clean, organized kitchen and support food service for residents in a treatment-focused facility.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift up to 30 lbs, and flexibility to work early morning, evenings, and weekends. Training will be provided for equipment and safety.

Qualifications

• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Ability to work all shifts (early morning, evenings, weekends).
• Clean and sanitize all kitchen, food prep, dining, and storage areas.
• Organize and stock in dry storage, walk-in cooler, and freezer.
• Secure storage doors and areas.
• Transport goods around facility using a golf cart (training provided).
• Maintains a clean kitchen.
• Inspects and maintains dishwasher.
• Ensures dishes are washed and sanitized.
• Proper placement of dishes, glassware, utensils.
• Maintains clean/dry floors.
• Puts away stock with FIFO.
• Prep and restock when required.
• Light cooking when requested.
• Food service when requested.
• Collecting and washing all dishes in food services department, as required.
• Returning and organizing clean dishes to storage areas, as required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean kitchen and dining areas.
• Inspect and operate the dishwasher.
• Ensure dishes, glassware, and utensils are sanitized.
• Organize and stock dry storage and walk-in areas.
• Transport goods around the facility using a golf cart (training provided).
• Assist with light cooking and food service as needed.
• Adhere to FIFO and stock rotation.

Requirements:

• Clean and sanitize all kitchen, food prep, food serving, dining, walk-in cooler, freezer and dry storage areas
• Organize and stock in dry storage, walk-in cooler, and walk-in freezer
• Properly secure walk-in cooler, freezer and dry storage doors and areas
• Collect and transport goods and supplies around various parts of the facility using golf cart (Training provided)
• Maintains a clean kitchen
• Inspects and maintains dishwasher
• Ensures dishes are properly washed and sanitized
• Proper placement of dishes, glassware, storage containers, utensils
