Job summary

Compass Group Canada in Victoria, BC, is seeking a General Help to support meal preparation and distribution for a correctional centre, including sanitation and cleaning tasks.

You will follow the prep schedule, wash, cut, and portion fruits and vegetables, handle meal carts, and keep storage and work areas clean. The role requires Grade 12, a clean criminal record, Food Safe level 1, and good English communication. The hourly wage is $19.76 CAD, with details shared during the hiring process.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent education, training and experience.
• Must pass and maintain a clean criminal record.
• Food Safe Level 1 certificate or provincial equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, written and verbal.
• Physical ability to perform all job-related tasks.
• Ability to operate related equipment.
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Good personal hygiene and ability to follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Wash, peel, and cut fruits and vegetables per the prep schedule.
• Prepare, cook or pan food as per prep schedule.
• Count, weigh and measure ingredients for the production area.
• Store food following wrapping, dating, and food safety rules.
• Portion meal trays and special diet trays as per meal schedule.
• Load, deliver, collect and unload meal service carts to pods.
• General cleaning of carts, trolleys, dishes and pots.
• Maintain clean and orderly storage areas.
• Operate equipment safely and work efficiently.
• Perform other duties during off-service hours as required.
• Follow management requests within a suitable timeframe.
