Job summary

The Province of Nova Scotia's Correctional Services division is recruiting a Cook's Helper to support the kitchen team at New Glasgow. Under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager or Cook, you will prepare foods, assist in distribution, and help ensure proper sanitation.

Candidates must have a completed food handler course and at least one year of direct food service experience; experience in an institutional setting is preferred. Strong communication and decision-making abilities are essential.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of a food handler course.
• One year of direct experience in the food service industry is required.
• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and individuals in custody; good decision making skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food and raw food products for main production.
• Assist in food distribution to service areas and in special diet meals.
